Day 218 Tuesday, March 8th. Over the mountains to the Tasman Sea-sunsets again!

Motueka on the Tasman Bay (and where we fix the propane tank by buying a replacement fitting) then up to Tapawera and on to Murchison for coffee and a treat. Absolutely bucolic landscape with fields of apple orchards; dairy and beef cows; and sheep. We buy a bag of apples from a road-side stand on the honour system and they are delicious. Another day of great weather but we know we will get more cloud and rain once we reach the west coast.
From Murchison down through Inangahua (most of the places we visit we leave before we learn how to pronounce their names) and then we follow the Buller River Gorge down to Westport on the Tasman Sea. Quick supermarket visit for supplies and then on down the coast to Punakaiki Beach Campground. We stopped for a camper van lunch alongside the ocean and again enjoyed blue skies and great views.
Our camp site is right next to the beach and so we had a chance to see our first sunset in some time (last 2 months on Australia’s east coast). The night sky is also wonderful since there is very little light pollution here-touch the stars. I wear my spectacles when I go for a pee in the night.
