Day 215 Saturday, March 5th. Illegally imported substances- and we get busted.

While in Australia Barbara had given us some fruit cake made by her sister in law and it was really good and so Christine and I decided to pack some for our trip to New Zealand. All of the Arrivals Hall signs at Christchurch Airport warned us not to bring in foodstuffs but we had forgotten about the Fruit Cake (I doubt we would have declared it anyway). Sure enough the Custom’s Beagle sniffed me out and we had to talk our way through officialdom-we and the fruit cake survived.
